Can my child "play up" a Division?
Please note CUSA recreational highly discourages players playing out of their appropriate age/grade divisions. While players may appear capable of playing up or more suitable to playing down, the recreational program is designed to keep kids within their appropriate age/grade divisions. Parents may request for players to play in different division than their current grade level. Parents must provide accurate grade level information on the registration form and submit a separate request for a different grade playing level. If a player's ability to play "up" or down cannot be validated by a member of the Recreational Board, the parent will be requested to head coach or assistant coach for the request to be honored. CUSA Recreational reserves the right to refuse the request without reason, even if a parent is willing to coach. The recreational program reserves the right to ban future registrations from persons who attempt to fraud these guidelines and/or reject current registration without a refund.
Can siblings play on the same team?
Yes, as long as each child meets the appropriate age/grade criteria.
Team Requests: Can friends play on the same team? Can I request a particular coach?
All players will be assigned to teams in a random process that makes every attempt to balance age and experience, without coach, parent and/or Recreational Board member input and/or subjectivity (with the exception of playing "up" a division above). Requests for coach and/or player assignment will not be honored regardless of carpool request, scheduling conflicts or any other family/player situations. The only exception is siblings within the same division and/or coach pairings where two coaches (and no more than two) may request to coach together and their children will be assigned to that team. Please do not make request for exceptions to this policy. They will not be granted.
What day will my child have practice?
Practice schedules are left to the discretion of each Coach. CUSA Recreational will recommend the appropriate frequency of practices for each age group, but the day(s) and time are the decision of the Coach.
What days are the games played on?
Our spring and fall program are structured differently. In spring we typically play games on Saturdays only and hold the developmental mini-camps during the week. Your child will attend camp on one evening every other week. In the fall, the Stars and Passers typically play games on Saturdays only. Shooters through Kickers will play on Saturday and one evening during the week. We do our best to keep each Division's weeknight game on the same night.
Because schedules are based on total program enrollment, we cannot predict with certainty the schedule until our Coaches meetings, two to four weeks before the season start.
Where will I practice and play games?
CUSA Recreational utilizes the Centerville - Washington Township Parks. Typically Oak Grove Park is used for our games during the Spring Program and the Fall Program uses Forest Field for upper grades and High School players. We request that our Coaches utilize the many neighborhood parks for their practices.
When will our Coach contact us?
Typically our volunteer coaches will contact you approximately three to four weeks before the start of the Program.
I've never coached before. Can I coach a CUSA Recreational soccer team?
YES! We are continually looking to add to our "coaching pool". If you have a desire to learn and enjoy working with kids - you can coach. Our Spring Program offers you an excellent chance to participate bi-weekly training sessions and learn the sport along side your team. For our Fall Program, we offer a series of pre-season coaching clinics to prepare you for your team sessions.
What are the program costs associated with CUSA Recreational?
Registration fee includes jersey and socks, referee costs, league membership and an end of season tournament (fall only).
Grades K, 1 & 2: $65.00 (no tournament in Stars division) Grades 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, & 8 $75.00 (due to increased referee fees) Late Registration: $25.00/child. Subject to availability. How do I compute a Multi-Player family discount total?
CUSA Recreational offers a multi-player discount to families with more than one child enrolled in the
recreational program. Registration fees for the first (oldest) player follow the fee for the season. Fees for other players within the same family are $40.00 per player
If you have a child playing in Wings, Strikers or Kickers divisions, the are always considered the first child enrolled.
Example: You have a two children in the Wings, Strikers or Kickers divisions. The first is charged $70.00 and the second
is only charged $40.00. An additional player in the Stars, Passers and Shooters division is $40.00 (normally $55.00)
for a total of $150.00. Please note that the multi-child discount only applies to the players enrolled in the CUSA Recreational Fall program.
Why is the Kickers Division (7-8th graders) Co-ed?
There are two reasons that the Kickers Division is Co-ed. First, there are usually not enough players at this age to field
an adequate number of teams. Without enough teams, players would play against the same teams every week or every other week.
The second reason is that our high school recreational program is already Co-ed and this
recreational program gives players a step up into the high school program.
